It seems like almost everyone has had at least one pet in their lifetime. Whether it's by the person choosing the pet, the pet choosing the person, or by mutual choice. Some people don't regard their pets as "pets", but as a friend, companion, and/or family member.

What other species of animal tend to cohabitate with another species other than human on a regular basis? There are some animals that tend to be very independent and have no desire to cohabitate. (Humans are NEAR the top of the food chain, but not the VERY top.) But many others will adapt or accept the Human Animal. What makes us so adaptable to choose cohabitation with other animals?

I think that the likelihood comes from our adaptability and understanding many of the needs of other creatures. This is very odd, since many times we have the HARDEST time understanding our OWN needs. We as humans must be one of the weirdest creatures on the planet since we get along with other creatures, but have the hardest time getting along with each other.

Maybe the sadness lies here, that we have become so disconnected with each other as human beings, that we feel that we must connect to something else. Sadly for those who do not connect with anything, become baser than anything that could be sought. Simply put… Those who connect with nothing, becomes less than something.
